Welcome to the FLAC

The Foreign Language Activity Center is your place to keep up with international television, study verb conjugations with classmates, bring your club to sing, dance and eat, or just curl up with a book in your language of choice. Visit with the attendant for more information or scheduling help.

The FLAC provides facilities for language and culture clubs to meet and socialize. Kitchen and serving facilities, large activity area, and comfortable surroundings make it the place to socialize.

Sit down with a book and pick up some new vocabulary. Grab a few friends and play a language game during lunch. Catch up on news from around the world on our televisions.

Reserve the FLAC

FLAC Hours

Activities may be scheduled to take place during any block of time, Monday through Friday from 7:30 am until 10:00 pm; We are closed on Tuesdays from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm for devotionals. To schedule an event, either stop by or call the FLAC (B003 JFSB, 422-7103), or the HLR (1141 JFSB, 422-5424).

Scheduling Priorities

The FLAC is designed to be a multi-use facility, both a home for clubs and cultural activities but primarily as a place for classes to interact beyond the traditional classroom setting. Our scheduling priority is as follows:

  1. Scheduled University, College of Humanities, or Department activities.
  2. University or Humanities conferences or seminars.
  3. French Language Fair (One reading day in April.)
  4. Classes.
  5. Department-organized language/cultural activities.
  6. Clubs with connections to the College of Humanities.
  7. Student groups focused on language and culture or subjects that relate to the College of Humanities.
  8. All other requests that fit the purpose and space.

Open Student Use

Unless previously scheduled, the FLAC is open for student use durring operational hours.

Fall/Winter Hours

Monday - Friday: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Tuesday: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm closed for devotionals and forums.

Spring/Sumer Hours

Monday - Friday: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm,
Tuesday: 11:00 am to 12:00 pm closed for devotionals and forums.
